Chevrolet electric cars are models for the future, allowing you to reduce your environmental impact without giving up the power or capability a Chevrolet vehicle always delivers. At Kerry Chevrolet, we’re sharing everything you need to know about the ownership process. Learn how to charge your EV with help from our expert team.
Decide on Charging Level
There are three main charging levels to pick from. Level 1 is the type of power you’ll receive from your home electrical system without any additional equipment. It is low power, and typically reserved for Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. Level 2 charging can be done at home with an installed charging system or at a charging station. Level 3 charging, also known as DC fast charging, is the quickest. It has too much power for a domestic residence, and is typically only available at public charging stations.
Locate Your Charging Station
Chevrolet offers the features and programs that allow you to access your nearest charging station with ease, whether you’re close to home or out on the open road. You’ll have access to over 250,000 public charging stations across the United States and Canada. Additionally, the myChevrolet app® will allow drivers to plan the best routes and to find their nearest charging stations.
Charge Your Vehicle
Charging an electric car is very similar to filling up with gas. Once you have found your charging station and decided on your charge type, you’ll locate the charge port on the vehicle. Connect the charging cable to the port and follow the directions on the charging device. You’ll be prompted to pay either at the start or end of your charge when using a public station. Once charged, simply disconnect the cable and hit the road.
